The Fund

The Transnational Community Reinvestment Fund (the Transnational Fund) is a global social investment fund aiming to address the root causes of migration. Harnessing the economic power of remittances (i.e. money sent to family left behind), the Fund uses investments from socially-responsible companies to support projects working to make migration a choice – and not a necessity- for economic survival.

The Transnational Fund:

  • Translates money given by companies in the remittance industry into support for grassroots initiatives in countries of origin and transnational communities.
  • Sets an example for the global financial industry and creates alternative systems of financial reinvestment that ensures corporations are accountable to local communities.
  • Enables remitters to support sustainable, community-driven development by using socially responsible companies to send money to their families.

The Transnational Fund is the first of its kind. It creates new standards and practices in the money transfer industry, demanding social responsibility and reinvestment in the communities from which the money transfer companies profit.
