New Beginnings Ethical Financial Services

TIGRA’s NewBE program helps immigrants, both newcomers and those more established, to make financial decisions not only based on individual need but also how those decisions can benefit their community for the better.

The program was started as an alternative to the financial institutions that immigrants currently use but that may use potentially harmful practices, like payday lending and remittance companies. Vetting financial institutions to make sure that they are immigrant friendly, TIGRA has partnered with local and national companies to provide services for immigrants. Some of these partners are:

  • Provident Credit Union
  • Amalgamated Bank
  • Community Financial Resources
  • Remitly
  • Nexxo Financial
  • Prospera, a branch of Self Help Credit Union

NewBE also supports immigrants through financial education that helps them learn about ways to build good credit, how to save no matter the income and how the way that we spend and where we bank matters not just for building our own financial futures but the financial futures of our community.
